How could a typical one-bedroom apartment fit more rooms in order to serve a contemporary lifestyle of a small family or even to be used as a rental?

To answer this question, the design had to address numerous chalenges such as the flipping of kitchen and bathroom along with a new, open plan arrangement for the main living room and kitchen area. The new layout makes the most out of the space by utilising the central area of the unit where a new storage space and a open corridor are introduced to distribute and seperate the different rooms. The new open kitchen, designed in a diagonal direction, is now becoming a distinct element within the space while the main structural column is becoming part of the proposed furniture cabinets. False ceiling is also designed to accomodate new electrical and mechanical conduits along with lighting fixtures. Finally, all furniture are chosen to express a contemporary and urban aesthetic reflecting both the initial brief and concept.
